History, Design & Reputation

Kura is an ultra-exclusive, adults-only, luxury boutique hotel that is a member of the Cayuga Collection of Sustainable Luxury Hotels. The mountain-top destination is the vision and dream incarnate of architect Martin Wells and biologist Alejandra Umaña, a Costa Rican couple who were inspired to create a modern and dynamic architectural concept that would test the limits of what they consider “intelligent luxury. The result was Kura, a brilliant expression of minimalist design-meets- unruly jungle. Dubbed “Costa Rica’s most romantic resort” by Forbes Magazine, Kura is the embodiment of “sexy-chic”, making it an unrivaled choice for intimate, romantic weddings.
